Eric Beach joins the firm's Litigation Department. A 2010 graduate of University of Pennsylvania Law School, Beach recently passed the Oregon State Bar. He was a 2009 summer associate at Tonkon Torp and in summer 2008 was a law school research assistant, performing legal and social science research on various civil procedure legal system issues. Beach earned his Bachelor's degree from University of Miami. Prior to studying law, he worked for a number of years in software development and systems design.
Christopher Harding, also newly admitted to the Oregon State Bar, is in Tonkon Torp's Business Department. A UCLA undergraduate, he earned his JD this year from University of Virginia School of Law. Harding held summer associate positions with Tonkon Torp, Kirkland & Ellis LLP in San Francisco and Williams Mullen in Richmond, Virginia. Before choosing a career in law, he worked in San Francisco for Lenox Advisors, a wealth management firm, and the Gerson Lehrman Group, a global research firm.
Marco Materazzi also practices in Tonkon Torp's Business Department. He returns to Portland after spending three years in London at Herbert Smith LLP, a large international law firm. There he represented corporate clients and investment banks on cross border security offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to moving to England in 2007, Materazzi worked for two years with another Portland law firm. A 2005 graduate of UCLA School of Law, he earned his Bachelor's degree from Cornell University. While in law school, Materazzi was a legal intern for the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California and taught first year law students as a Teaching Fellow.
"As we continue to selectively build our business and litigation departments, we are pleased to add young attorneys with both academic excellence and work experience that enhances their ability to be good lawyers and business counselors," said Michael M. Morgan, managing partner.
The latest group of new associates brings to six the number of lawyers Tonkon Torp has added to the firm in 2010.
