Multnomah County Again Honors Tonkon Torp Attorney Max Miller
5.2.2013
The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners and the Multnomah County Citizen Involvement Committee have honored Tonkon Torp attorney Max M. Miller, Jr. with a 2013 Multnomah County Volunteer Award for his service on the Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC).
This is the second time Miller has been acknowledged for his volunteer contributions to the community. Max earned the 2011 Multnomah County Volunteer Award for his service on the board of RACC and the governing committee of the Right Brain Initiative. Kathleen M. Todd, Director of the Office of Citizen Involvement, noted that Max’s “…gifts of time, leadership and creative ideas” led to the special recognition again this year.
In addition to his work on the RACC and Right Brain Initiative boards, Miller has served on the boards of MetroArts, Inc., Business for Culture & the Arts, West Coast Chamber Orchestra, the Friends of the Children Endowment Committee, Oregon Episcopal School and the City of Portland, Mayor’s Economic Cabinet. He is a founding member of Oregon Lawyers for a Sustainable Future and was honored with the Oregon State Bar’s Sustainable Leadership Award in recognition of his volunteer work to move the legal profession to embrace sustainability as a goal.
Miller chairs Tonkon Torp’s Environmental & Natural Resources Practice Group. His business counsel and litigation practice focuses on complex hazardous waste, air and water pollution matters, as well as forestry and renewable energy.
