Neuman Asked to Weigh in on Western Water Law Sustainability
1.17.2014
Janet Neuman was one of a panel of respected water law experts asked by the Oregon State Bar Sustainable Future section to address the question of whether Western water law is sustainable to meet future water supply needs. Neuman’s January 15 presentation at the OSB-sponsored event discussed how the origins and design of Oregon water law create challenges for sustainable use of the state's water resources.
Neuman is Senior Counsel with Tonkon Torp’s Water Law and Environmental & Natural Resources practice groups, which handle water rights transactions, water project development, permitting and litigation of water rights disputes for both government entities and private sector clients. She is a former professor and Associate Dean of Faculty at Lewis & Clark Law School and the author of a comprehensive book on Oregon water law.
