Miller Demystifies Portland Harbor Superfund Site
11.25.2014
Max Miller, Jr. shared information and perspective about the Portland Harbor Superfund Site at a recent Continuing Legal Education seminar hosted by the Multnomah Bar Association. He and another speaker discussed the law and history behind the Superfund Site designation and offered insights about how the assessment of liability and the selection of the remedy may impact businesses in Portland.
Miller, who chairs Tonkon Torp’s Environmental & Natural Resources Practice Group, represents a large manufacturer operating within the Superfund Site. An urban and industrial area stretching approximately 10 miles downstream from downtown Portland, the Superfund Site includes property owned or operated by the City of Portland, the Port of Portland, and a few hundred private companies who are doing or have done business along the waterfront or within the harbor drainage basin.
