Janet Neuman Weighs in on Federal Water Policy Question
6.12.2015
Jan Neuman was a panelist at the 33rd annual Water Law Conference hosted by the American Bar Association in Denver on June 4 and 5, 2015. She and other panelists discussed the question of whether there should be a federal water policy to address issues of water supply, management, and distribution on a national scale. The panel examined the ad hoc and sometimes conflicting nature of current federal water programs, and considered the long-running debates about the need for and elements of a coherent federal water policy.
Jan is Senior Counsel with Tonkon Torp’s Water Law and Environmental & Natural Resources practice groups, which handle water rights transactions, water project development, permitting, and litigation of water rights disputes for both government entities and private sector clients. She is a former professor and Associate Dean of Faculty at Lewis & Clark Law School and the author of a comprehensive book on Oregon water law.
