Shouka Rezvani Discusses Nonprofit and School Law for OSB Seminar
10.6.2016
On September 30, Tonkon Torp attorney Shouka Rezvani gave a presentation at the Oregon State Bar (OSB) Nonprofit Law CLE seminar that explored the intersection of nonprofits and school law. Shouka was instrumental in the founding of Le Monde Immersion, which operates a French language charter school in Portland, and currently serves as its executive director and board chair.
During this introduction to public charter and basic school law, Shouka covered how to apply for exempt status as a school; public charter schools vs. private schools, and primary governance considerations. She also included an overview of Oregon's charter school statutes.
Shouka is chair of Tonkon Torp's Nonprofit & Tax-Exempt Entities practice group. She counsels public charities as well as operating and private foundations on organizational and operational issues.
The event was cosponsored by the OSB CLE Seminars Department and the Nonprofit Organizations Law Section.
