PORTLAND, Ore. (March 5, 2020) Tonkon Torp attorney Robert Koch has been appointed to the Executive Committees of the Oregon State Bar (OSB) Appellate Practice and Constitutional Law Sections.
The OSB Appellate Practice Section serves state and federal appellate practitioners in Oregon by providing Continuing Legal Education opportunities, monitoring changes to the Oregon Rules of Appellate Procedure, and offering a forum for improving the practice of appellate law throughout Oregon and the United States. The section also assists in overseeing the Oregon Pro Bono Appellate Program, through which Koch previously represented a parent in a child custody dispute before the Oregon Supreme Court.
The OSB Constitutional Law Section serves practitioners in Oregon by providing Continuing Legal Education opportunities about developments in state and federal constitutional law. The section also monitors and, if requested, provides advice about legislative developments that raise constitutional issues.
Koch chairs Tonkon Torp’s Appellate Practice Group and handles cases in state and federal courts of appeals. Prior to joining Tonkon Torp, he served in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division in Washington, D.C., where he worked on both civil and criminal matters in the U.S. Supreme Court and in federal courts of appeals across the country.
