Robert Koch Represents the District of Oregon to the Ninth Circuit Conference of Chief District Judges
3.10.2020
Tonkon Torp attorney Robert Koch recently represented the District of Oregon at the Ninth Circuit’s Conference of Chief District Judges held in San Diego, CA. The Conference of Chief District Judges brings together the chief judges of the 15 judicial districts within the Ninth Circuit to advise the Circuit’s Judicial Council on the administration of justice in federal district courts. Koch attended the conference in his role as co-chair of the Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representatives for the District of Oregon.
Koch has served as a Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representative for the District of Oregon since 2019. Lawyer representatives work closely with the federal bench and bar in Oregon to improve the administration of justice in the Circuit. They also help to plan the biennial District of Oregon Conference and attend the annual Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. This year’s Ninth Circuit conference will be in Portland.
Koch chairs Tonkon Torp’s Appellate Practice Group and handles cases in state and federal courts of appeals. Prior to joining Tonkon Torp, he served in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division in Washington, D.C., where he worked on high-profile civil and criminal matters in the U.S. Supreme Court and in federal courts of appeals across the country.
